Countdown to Winter Troop Camp Begins

There's no need to wait for snow to plan for a winter camp.

Scouters Gord Ford and George Bishop, the camp organizers, are encouraging Scouters and Scouts to buy their longjohns now.

Calendar Update

Nov. 10 - Apple Day for participating groups.

Nov. 11 - Remembrance Day Parade and Service. Meet at Troy Armoury by 10:15 a.m. to join the parade or go directly to Memorial Gardens for 10:30 a.m.

Nov. 24 & 25 (postponed) Standard First Aid & CPR course for Scouters.

Nov. 30 – Good Deed forms due.

Dec. 4 – Good Deed draw.

Dec. 1 – Annual Area Christmas Singalong at the Northeast Mental Health Centre. Contact Scouter Candy Stott for details.

Dec. 12 – Scouters’ Club Christmas social at Scouter Gord’s.

2008

Jan. 5 & 6 – Standard First Aid & CPR course for Scouters.

Feb. 17 - 24 – Scout-Guide Week, event to be announced.

Feb. 29 - March 2 – Annual Nipissing Area Winter Troop Camp on Songis Road.

March 14 - 16 – Wilderness Survival/First Aid Camp for Scouters.

April 5 – Nipissing Area Motor Madness (details to be announced).

Oct. 4 – Apple Day.

November Scouters Club

* The November First Aid course for Scouters has been rescheduled to January due to a schedule conflict.

* Good Deed Celebration forms are due Nov. 30 at Trinity United Church. Scouter John Marcil will make the draw for a refurbished computer on Dec. 4.

* December’s Scouters’ Club has been rescheduled to 7:30 p.m., Wednesday Dec. 12. The annual Christmas gathering has been moved to Scouter Gord’s home, 214 Hwy. 654. Everyone is invited to attend, bring some Christmas goodies, and share warm friendships and a bonfire.

* Scout Troops have been invited to create a display on scouting for the North Bay Public Library’s display cabinet for February to help mark Scout-Guide Week.

* Nipissing Area Motor Madness is tentatively scheduled for Saturday, March 22. Details on this year’s event and on a competition to design a new event crest will be announced shortly.

* Nipissing Area Scouters are being asked to act like Beavers and share their local resources and contacts.

Scouters should send their information - names and phone numbers and any specific details, to Scouter Ken Sitter, who will compile the information and posted it as a PDF on the Nipissing Scouting News.

Scouters will be able to download the information to help plan their section’s schedule or special activities.
